Traded my car for a truck at an Arlington used car dealership on Friday afternoon, but first I had it inspected by a reputable company that only does used car inspections, and got a carfax report. I also tracked down the guy who sold it to the dealer, and got his opinion of the truck. He said he wished he still had it. Last night I was fixing the stereo which required pulling up the carpet to get to the wires. This truck has been in water. I don't know how long ago, but it has. There's rust, mildew, rotten carpet, etc.
The dealer never said a word. The inspection didn't catch it, and neither did the Carfax. The previous owner never said anything either (a preacher no less), so maybe the dealer didn't know? It runs pretty good, but there are electrical bits all over the truck that need fixed ( back up lights, power mirrors, power windows, some interior lights, fog lights)
Today is Monday. Not sure what to do.

My husband bought me a car as a surprise, 12 days ago, from the side of the road. When he went to purchase it, the guy told him he was a dealer and so he had to do things differently. The "dealer" went to the local court house and did all the paperwork. He and his wife brought the car to my husband on a trailer. He was rushing my husband since it was a Friday afternoon. Well, yesterday, my car started overheating. It never got up so high that it was in the "red" before I pulled over and let it cool down. I checked all the obvious fluids and fan, etc. Cooled it down, drove it about 5 miles to my mechanic, again never letting it get close the red on the temp gauge. My mechanic calls me and tells me that the radiator, thermostat, fan, etc is all brand new. Indicating to ME that the "dealer" KNEW it was having issues with overheating (coupled NOW with the fact that he didn't DRIVE the car 20 miles to us but instead on a trailer). So of course I'm TICKED. But ultimate question is this: isn't it illegal in Texas for a "dealer" to sell off his lot?

I live in Florida. I was going to buy a car from a local dealer. I took the car home the first day because the dealer told me to. The loan however, was not yet approved. I signed a paper stating that if the loan didn't go through I would return the car and get my trade back. Fifteen days later i didn't get approved and i brought the car in. I was giving the run around because the dealer was hiding something. a couple days later they said the sold my car but they were gonna get it back. They did. They however refused to give me my title saying it's in their name now. What happened is they jumped the gun and paid my car off, which was $1200. They did all this when my loan hadn't even went through yet. I ended up finding out that they had never sold the car to anyone, nor was the title ever put in their name. They were lying the whole time just to scare me into paying them the $1200. They wanted to settle with me for $600, but they wanted it all at once and when i said i would have to make payments, they refused. I have replaced the title and I have the release of lien. The incident was 6 months ago and i just started getting a invoice saying I owe them $1200. It is not an official bill. Can they legally come after me for this money?

I think that all dealers should be required to preform an inspection on any used car they try to sell. I know that most have certified pre-owned programs but it should be required by law. This way it prevents people from being scammed just because they are trusting people.
